AVAG works with all sectors of society: not only with women, but also with men, through Self Help Groups (SHGs); with Dalits (‘Untouchables’) as well as caste rural communities; with both elected and traditional leaders; with school children, parents and teachers; with the local governance structures and the district and state level officials.

Women and men form separate SHG’s in order to meet gender specific needs. SHG activities are implemented through the Women Power Programme (WPP) and Men’s Programmes, which cover the four critical areas of community development, economic development, capacity building and psychosocial services.
