With our help, village people grow their own food and can afford more healthy vegetables or even sell some of them.

Talking about Menstruation

Today we had a really nice seminar on menstrual hygiene. About 40 women from different villages joined us and talked about their menstrual problems, fears and practices – taboo issues in Tamil society! Many of them were happy to share their experiences, learn where their blood comes from and discover many new things like herbal remedies for stomach cramps, tampons… or Moon Cups (picture).

Earth Day calls for action

On 22.April, 80 people from Auroville and the surrounding villages followed AVAG’s invitation and joined our earth day celebration. Together, we learned and discussed about GM food, waste separation and many other things. A great chance to raise awareness about environmental problems and their causes.

Women’s day – let’s celebrate!

In many villages, AVAG clubs organised big festivals with funny games, cultural performances, food etc. to celebrate this year’s international women’s day. More programs will be going on the coming days and tomorrow we will have a huge celebration in AVAG office.

Intergender Exchange

We are happy to inform you that our
special intergender exchange program last sunday was a huge succes ! Men and women SHGs of different castes came together to get to know each other and talk about their clubs. First they were extremely shy, but during the day they opened up and shared about their plans and experiences. 
At the end of the program we were so surprised, when some men even got up to serve food to the hosting women. What a gesture of respect!
